I heard recently in conversation that someone was telling a novice heli pilot to tether his heli, by the tail rotor of all places Shocked

After all, could you imagine knowing nothing, going to a fullsize helicopter school for tuition only to find your helicopter with a rope tied to it's tail boom.....the potential accident doesn't bear thinking of Sad

Hopefully all those potential helicopter pilots out there will seek the advice of a properly qualified flight instructor to assist them after they have bought their helicopter...they are not toys, they can and have killed people as we all know Sad

Believe it or not, but this is a very "old" way that used to be recommended in learning to fly a heli, maybe 30 or more years ago!
If I remember rightly, an assistant was recommended to hold the string, and, of course, a bit of forard cyclic trim helped to keep the string tight.
I also remember seeing somewhere, someone recollecting using this method SOLO, so they tied the string to their waist (or chest?)!!
Just think on that?
Regards to you all.
