Hello all,

I've decided it's about time to find out more about a subject that's always fascinated me - RC Helis.

I've hooked up my transmitter to the PC to spend some time on a trainer prog before dabbling with the real thing but I had a question which is more interest than anything else.

Having watched an RC heli show on 'Supermodels' on Sky, I noticed that some heli's (notably the scale ones) don't have that telltale plume of white smoke that spoil the look somewhat. They weren't gas turbine machines but did have a large looking duct-style exhaust.

What technology is it that does away with the exhaust tell-tale? Is it likely to be a 4-stroke engine or something else?

Thanks for any help you can give and sorry it's probably quite an inane and pointless question but i'm just curious. Smile

All the best,
Darren

Hi Darren,

Not a daft question at all cause if you dont ask you will never find out. It was probably a petrol engine, a Zenoah RC230 which is the most common, it is a 23cc petrol engine and because it is petrol there is virtually no smoke.
