What to try next

I completed my first roll yesterday Shocked

I can now perform loops, rolls and stall turns, and my nose in is getting better all the time (landed nose in 2 or 3 times). So what do I try next?
Bear in mind I have a raptor 30 with a crap tt36 engine so power is limited.

If your going to start any 3d stuff - try getting backwards sorted (took me ages) and stopping at the top of a loop to start doing inverted hover. Put an extra 360 into your stall turns as well to start getting used to pirouettes. R30 and woodies will be fine for awhile - assume the idle 2 pitch is +- 9 v curve?

If you haven't got one already, i'd get a sim quick..... (Reflex or Realflight G2)

Congratulations on you're progress
Personally i would keep practising on the basics and try getting it to the point where you can do multiple pirouttes in very slow time without the heli moving or very slow figure of eights keeping a very accurate bearing and height when you can handle these aspects you will find that you're control in more advanced manouvers will be that bit better hopefully resulting in fewer crashes.
To prevent the boredom setting in towards the end of each tank by all means give it a quick blast and i'm sure you will soon start to notice how much better you become

Now that you have good control and feel comfortable you should look into putting that set of Mechanics into a Nice Scaler! Nothing feels better than a Nice flying Scale Helicopter .... Multiblade Heads are next then you can progress into Gassers and Turbines! Smile

Hello,
I also have a trusty raptor 50. Have been flying a fair bit this weather.
Whilst changing from +9 to -9 at high velocity I recieved a boom stike(mid air) resulting in the transformation from raptor to vetically falling mass of twisted metal with enging screaming and bits flying I can assure you it was not a pretty sight.Goodnight
Sent for spares
Went flying again guess what ,
You guessed it
Same again.
Went home
Decided it was the dampers,

Question today is ,
1. Can they be stiffened,
2. Is it easier to upgrade to the V2 head which I believe has theses already,

Any help or thoughts will be a great help to my pocket(should have known better)

Stephen - been there, done that crash

options are either to get the harder red V2 rubbers and sleeve out the V1 spindle (I cut down some spare brass sleeves from the tail rotor - p[erfect fit) or upgrade the grips, bearing, thrust bearings, head and dampers to the V2 ones (all from Helikraft)

I did the first one until I used up a couple of spare v1 spindles and it worked fine, then I changed to the v2 head - the v2 head is noticeably more accurate in flight and the tail has remained connected to the heli

Thought about going the whole way and getting a Quick UK v2 metal head but I'll leave that for another pay-check

Hardly flown at all for the last 2 weeks and the weekend traffic on the K bridge is huge
