is it normal for a nimh 650mahp 8.4v to heatup on charging ?

ps:after about 30mins on charger the battery pack is really hot to the touch ?

what rate are you charging it at?, my 2500mah nimh only gets nicely warm.

the AC adaptor output is 12vdc -300ma ( not sure if thats correct for a 8..4v battery)..
