firstly sorry to the thread starter for us grumpy old farts slightly hi-jacking your thread.
And you cant beat a "friendly heated debate" i will buy anyone a pint on monday , but only soft drinks for me i never have and never will touch any alcohol when driving its not worth it.
wifes looked out some nitrile gloves for me, and booked a strecher in her ambulance if the debate overflows from friendly
looking forward to entering the lions/raptors den 0n monday |

Well, My 30 & 50 Raptors run on Bekra 10, although I'm sure a great debate will start after this post
I Run the Raptor 90 on Prosynth zero nitro as I found the Webra 91 run at its best that way. _________________ Mike Henderson

I have used Wildcat and Magnum fuel.
I prefer the Magnum 12% (Don't frown Alex ) as my TT50 seems to run cooler on this. The magnum also has more oil than the Wildcat which is probably why it runs cooler and smokier. Is "smokier" a word |

If you are into 3d and are looking to buy a heli , it does make sense to look at what pilots who are already "there " are flying therefore
3d Masters results 2004
Sportsman
1)Kjetil Strom- Robbe Millenium 2
2)Nigel Revill- Xcell Fury Extreme
3)Jon Roger Thomassen- Futura Nova
4)Marcel Van Raak-TT Raptor 90
5)Chris Walton- Xcell Fury Tempest
Expert
1)Danny Szabo-TT Raptor 90
2)Paul Lison- Raptor 50
3)Robert Mott- JR Vigor CS
4)Nir Meiri-Xcell Fury Tempest
5)Dave Fisher- Xcell Fury Xtreme
Masters
1)Curtis Youngblood- JR Vigor CS
2)Alan Szabo-TT Raptor 90
3)Duncan Osbourn- Xcell Fury Xtreme
4)Kazuya Yamaguchi-TT Raptor 90(Bravo)
5)Peter Novotny-Xcell fury Tempest
Still here
Now if money is not a consideration and perhaps you as a pilot would like to Xcell at 3d masters, the logical thing to do would be look to see what the pilots fly and also which heli is the most popular and then buy that one and learn to fly it,makes sense, so
TT Raptor 5
Xcell Furry Xtreme 3
Xcell Fury Tempest 3
Robbe Millenium 2 1
JR Vigor CS 2
Futura Nova 1
Seems to be the TT Raptor was the most sucessfully flow heli at the world championships,
The fact is that money is an issue and most of the time during debates/discussions this is actually the discussion topic.
Also no mention of hirobo or evo , strange,, very strange,, _________________ Stephen |

Aye, but wouldn't it be fair to say that some of those guys could do the same moves if they strapped a set of blades to a shoe box _________________ Mike Henderson

That would depend on alot of things,
the size of the shoe box
the contents of the shoe box,
does the shoe box have an engine attached,
what shoes were in the box before the blades were attached,
Are the shoes black trainers or brown Italian loafers
are there any holes in the box and what radio will be used to fly the shoe box blade combination,
I will try this and report back my findings later on,
I will win 3d masters 2005 with my shoe box blade combo, and then dance wearing the finely styled loafers,,

Just because none of the top guys were flying a hirobo or evo for that matter dont mean they are not machines worth using. Anyone can trawl up any stats they wish to suit any purpose.
Also just because ONE BRAND of machine in the hands of the top flyers in the world is performing well, DOES-NOT automatically mean that is suitable for the next man and again DOES-NOT automatically mean that you should rush out and buy said brand of machine, ALL IT MEANS is that, that particular machine is doing well in the hands of that pilot at that particular time nothing more.
And for point of note when discussing the merits of what heli would be suitable as a next purchase, in no way was ANY heli actually being put forward as better than the next, it was merely being pointed out that just because a raptor is like a tampax does NOT automatically mean that anyone MUST buy it, people must be made aware that there IS a choice out there not just follow on like a sheep and buy the first machine mentioned. NOTHING MORE NOTHING LESS
Why do owners of certian brands of helicopter have an automatic need to get all antsy and their voices raise an octave due to thier boxers/y fronts getting all knotted up as soon as anything that is NOT necessarily negative but an opinion being given about certain brands of machine ?
all that matters as has already been posted by a very astute gent already.
If you are happy with what you fly thats all that matters
By all means extole its virtues to others ,but in the same vein do-not stop others from having a quite differing view to yours if that is their view it is an opinon like everyone elses that they ARE entitled to.
I edit beacuse my spelling and grammer is crap ..........
Regards

I agree that hirobo helis do fly well ,
It is strange however that very few were used as 3d "tools" at the masters and that none of the winners flew one,
That is what I have noticed and have made known. _________________ Stephen |

Probably because of statements like...

Now, where did I leave that shoe box... _________________ Quentin Mayberry |

If you'd kept your Fury then you wound't have to suffer that Hirobo _________________ Mike Henderson

The Stars,
Thunder Tiger -- Alan Szabo Jr/ Danny Szabo
Jr -- Curtis Youngblood
Xcell -- Jason Krause(no longer)
Hirobo -- ?????????
I think this has something to do with it, perhaps you can correct me for not knowing the name of anyone who flys a Hirobo heli. _________________ Stephen |
