Electric or i/c??

I am at present looking to start into the hobby of flying RC Helis, however have had conflicting information from different sources.
As a new boy to the sport is it wise to start with an electric model such as the Hummingbird or Eco 8, or shall i go for a Raptor 30 or simular model, your advice would be great

I guess it’s down to where you want to go with this hobby and how much time you want to put into it. If you want to do 3D or scale to any level then I would say go Glow powered. The downside of electric is the batteries; you will only get about 5 min flight times with normal batteries. You will get longer times with lithium polymer ones but you will pay £100 a set.

So pay your money and go for one

The electric is not as good as IC,

The eco 8 has not good write ups on other web forums due to the fact they have to be heavily upgraded for beyond circuit flying, if you are going to go for an electric go for the Eolo it is smaller than a raptor but bigger than the hummingbird and piccolo, it is mainly viewed as a 25 size model and doesn't need upgrading loads, you can of course go for a brushless motor, but i have a fellow pilot friend who has flown one straght from the box and has been very happy with it.
If you go down the IC route then raptor or shuttle are good as the bits can be obtained almost any hobby shop and they are cheap.

If thats so some one forgot to tell my T-Rex450x from Align. with a 1500mah li-po's straight outta the box with no mods im getting 12-15 minute non 3D flights
and it will 3D if made to the T-Rex makes the Eco8 look like a dinosaur

I have a Seadu Evo 50 too that i use regularly and im getting to like my "rex" more and more everytime i fly it, and as by nature im a tinkerer i have modded my "rex" not because it needs it because i can,

So now due to technology catching up YES the electric heli has come of age and can stand up and be counted along side an IC, yes the one i list is a micro heli but look at the mikado logo14 a specific battery 3D heli and henslet have one out too.

and you had better get used to them because in our ever decreasing flying sites tightening up on noise the I/C heli might be a thing only seen in a glass case in the future.
