A Set-Up Question

Guys

I have been flying my Hoverfly for a good few months now (including a lot of nose-in hovering .... you should check out the gouges in the lounge walls!), in conjunction with a Reflex XTR flight sim both utilising an old second-hand Futaba Skysport 4 tx. I decided, after a couple of months spent visiting a lot of R/C Heli websites and forums, to finally take the plunge and buy my first Helicopter.
I am now waiting on delivery of my first R/C Helicopter - namely, a fixed pitch LMH Corona fitted with a Hacker Brushless Motor/Phoenix-45 ESC and LiPo set-up. Also, after taking advice from various retailers, I also purchased a JR PCM9X / R900 radio system.

Can anybody help or give me some advice on setting up the 9X for use on a three servo (Hitec 81's) and ESC rig?

Hi

If you follow your instructions from the manufacturers of the corona you "should" be somewhere in the ballpark in terms of getting it to fly.

IMHOP you will end up cursing the fixed pitch, but hey its all part of the learning process I suppose.

For (almost) any setup you make sure that eveything is level, blades @ zero pitch (but in your case this wont matter as you running fixed pitch) & all linkages and arms @ 90degrees.

You will need to set your radio up to whatever the corona manual states for running the ESC (if your esc has a governer mode etc)

Without actually looking over what the corona manual states for this machine, everyone would be stabing in the dark unless we have a poster who actually runs a corona already,who would manage to provide some baseline setting for you to work from. Thats why its essential for the new pilot to get a wiser (hmm or more stupid maybe) pilot to have a look over your machine before you attempt to fly it for the first time.

Many thanks for taking the time to post a reply to my question.
All your points that you mentioned are well taken and will be put into practice.
Even though the LMH Corona construction manual and the operator's guide are both well over eighty pages in length and very comprehensive, I know and appreciate that the learning curve will be very steep.

I do have one further question and it is in relation to the function menu in my tx set-up. Basically, should I leave all the options set at the factory default settings?
a. leave the dual rate and exponential for aileron, elevator and rudder at 100%;
b. the travel adjusts at default setting of 100%
c. no Swash Mix selected;
d. throttle hold set to OFF;
e. throttle and pitch curves set to Normal with exponential set to OFF;
f. revolution mixing set as required;
g. program mix set to OFF.

I'm really sorry if this seems long winded but that funtion menu scares the daylights out of me!
