Any one coming to the Falkirk Heli day?

Will be running a novelty competition that even beginners can enter
Every one else can just fly and fly.

Doubt it. No SAA heli examiners bothered to turn up to the Cumbernauld SAA Training day yesterday. Poor show!

There were two helicopter pilots there ready to do the Silvers. But a no show from the "Experts" again. Shocked

Its about time we had some new Heli examiners!

I had a go at the 'competitions' this year down at at the Scottish Heli Cup, and it was real fun:-)

Dunno if I'll do the same this year though, as the figure of eights between the two canes was very close to Canes-1 Raptor30-NIL I'll tell you:-)

Think I may just enjoy the flying and give my Bell222 a whirl.

TC

If we knew that you wished that Heli tests were to be taken apart for another members I would have certainly turned up.

We cannot be expected to turn up to every event, week after week.

Would you be able to?

Contrary to popular belief I do have other commitments.

I find that your comments are particularly distressing as all it would have taken is an email to Quentin informing him of your intention of taking a silver test. Or even myself, I would have passed that onto Quentin, and he would have arranged a test for you.

I personally will be at Falkirk this weekend if anyone wants to do tests.

unfortunetely the examiners who are local to the training day where invited to attend the largest car show in scotland to promote our hobby by putting on a display. turns out the weather put paid to this unfortunetely. only managed a couple of flights but the crowd that gathered to watch soon forgot about ferraris and the like when they see a heli inverted at 6" off the deck.

hopefully next weekend will be ok and we can all get flying at falkirk. weather has been against us for a while.

cheers

Hi TC,

This is probably off topic here, but please remember, a silver or gold test, or BMFA B is arranged at area level, not a turn up on the day event. The SAA or BMFA safety officer should be contacted in plenty of time to arrange a suitable date for testing (Me in the SAA case).

There was obviously a problem with communication over the Cumbernauld weekend, which hopefully can be resolved, so as not to happen again. Apart from one individual request I received for a silver test, who was informed that no heli examiners would be available that day so an alternative was suggested, there had been no other requests made to me.

Most of the SAA examiners do tireless work travelling to events or being available, Stuart is definitely one of them. I don't feel your comments are warranted here Sad Your email to me was the first time I had heard of alleged continual problems, if no one talks to me, I can't do anything to rectify it... Head South Laughing

Only joking.
Assuming you are coming from Fraserburgh.

Try www.multimap.com and set directions Fraserburgh to Airth.
On arriving at Airth (assuming you are coming in from the kincardine side) head through the village and just as you leave Airth there is a turn on your left hand side pointing to Cowie. Take this turn and the flying field is about 2 miles along that road. It's called Westfield farm. There should be a sign at the turn.

It's marked as westfield on this map.
