MacGregor Warning on foreign sourced PCM9XII transmitter Posted on Saturday, February 03, 2007 @ 17:01:04 PST

| MacGregor have examined a foreign sourced PCM9XII transmitter. This was originally a 72MHz set and has a different switch configuration and software to the MacGregor version. The model number isNET-N239FS, as marked on the front left hand switch plate.
There CE test certification will therefore not apply to these foreign sets. MacGregor sets are marked NET239ES and have a MacGregor/JR label in the centre Buyers of foreign sets are urged to seek reassurance that these sets have been fully tested before they buy and should not just rely on the fact that they have a small CE sticker inside the module recess The BMFA have informed us that their insurer could decline to defend a claim from a modeller using illegal equipment.

Having spoken with JR Magregor about this exact matter on behalf of one of model club flyers, It is perfectly ok to use if the RF module is from a reputable UK retailer of JR radio gear, like inwoods, motors and rotors etc.
When Macgregor do the CE testing, they actaully test the RF module as this is the bit that does all the donkey work so to speak.
The CE label however doesnt get applied to the module but the tx casing as you have stated.
As for the BMFA, I as a BMFA council delegate have discussed this exact matter with Chris Bromley SMAE Fel. and the conclusion was that they are unsure of the legalities of such units being used and there, to cover themselves (us) are making the above statement. The real problem with imported radio systems is with 2.4Ghz as the sets that are from america are up to 10 times more powerful than the UK sets hence the problems.
Hope this has been of some use to you.
