General News
CDR 5000 Superb specification in an elegant package - that sums up this extremely powerful 12 V charge / discharge station with battery management. The DX charge output is designed for charging and discharging all current types of drive and flight batteries, including NiCad, NiMH, Lead-Acid, Lithium-Tadiran, Lithium-Ion and Lithium-Ion-Polymer packs. So easy to use and program, and so accurate and versatile, the CDR-5000 is the "must-have" charger for today's demanding modeler!

  • Charges, discharges and cycles transmitter and receiver packs without removing them from the radio.


  • Auto cut-off can be programmed for delta peaking, mAh and temperature settings.


  • Five built-in fans provide maximum cooling.


  • Also features reverse polarity and overload protection.


  • Linear current charger with advanced peak detection and automatic cutoff circuit with MOSFET.

No scrolling! All information is shown on one large, backlit LCD screen for virtually "touch-free" operation after setup.

Charge outlets for transmitter and receiver batteries are on one side; ports for
connecting the charger to the Thermo Stand, printer or PC are on the other side.

Unit includes the following:

  • TX Charge adapter- used to charge and discharge batteries for transmitters.
  • RX Charge adapter- used to charge and discharge batteries for receivers.
  • Terminal Harness- used for measuring characteristics of each cell in a serially composed battery. (2-6 cells)
  • Conversion table- to help convert Celsius temperatures to Fahrenheit temperatures.
  • Input clips- to connect to a power source.
  • Thermo sensor- Sensor for batteries that are monitored and battery characteristic during charging and discharging at a certain level.
  • Output clips- for connection to DX batteries.
  • Charger stand
  • TX/RX charge adapter terminal.
  • Terminal harness connector.
  • Thermo stand connector. (Thermo stand sold as optional)
  • Printer connector. (For factory use only)
  • PC connector (For factory use only)
DX Set up
  • Set Charge- Set charging current from .01 to 12A (in .01A increments)
  • Set Discharge- Set the discharging current from .1 to 40A (in .01A increments)
  • Cycle Mode- set the number of cycles for charging and discharging. Capable of cycling from 1 to 99 times.
  • Charge Cut-off Delta Voltage- set the voltage for "Delta Peak" detection level (ODV or 3-5mV/cell in 1mV/Cell increments)
  • Charge Cut-off Temperature- maximum temperature of the battery. Setting range from 25 to 75 degrees Celsius in 1 degree increments.
  • Charge Cut-off Max Voltage- The maximum voltage of the battery. Setting range from .1 to 62V in .001V increments.
  • Charge Cut-off Capacity- Set the maximum capacity. Setting range is from 50 to 9999mAh in 1mAh increments.
  • Discharge Cut-off Volts- set the voltage of the battery for discharging. Setting range is from .1 to 62V in .001V increments, or can be set up with .8V/cell, .85V/cell or .9V/cell.
  • Discharge Cut-off Time- to set the time to stop discharging. Setting range is from 10 seconds to 999m00 seconds in 1 second increments.
  • Cell Numbers- to set the number of cells that are connected. 1-36 cells in 1 cell increments.
TX/RX Set up
  • Set Charge- set the charging current for TX/RX. Setting range is from .05 to 2A in .01A increments.
  • Set Discharge- set to discharge TX/RX. Setting range is from .1 to 5A in .01 increments.
  • Cycle Mode- Set the number of cycle times for charging/discharging. Setting is from 1 to 99 cycles.
DX Data Screen
  • Volts- shows the current battery voltage.
  • Amperage- shows the present charging current or discharge current.
  • Peak Volts- shows the peak voltage of a battery while the battery is charged.
  • Average Volts- shows the average voltage of the battery while the battery is charged or discharged.
  • First stage- shows the estimated average voltage at the early stage of discharging.
  • Middle stage- shows the estimated average voltage at the middle stage of discharging.
  • Last stage- shows the estimated average voltage of a battery a the last stage of discharging.
  • Internal relative resistance- Shows the internal resistance of the battery under charging or discharging.
  • Battery Capacity- shows the accumulated amount of charge or discharge from the beginning.
  • Time- shows the accumulated amount of time from start of charging or discharging.
  • Power level- the status of the battery under charging or discharging.
  • Matched level- shows the matched level among the battery cells and how the cells are well matched to each other.
  • Outside temperature- shows the temperature measured by the Thermo Sensor utilized in the CDR-5000.
  • Humidity- Show the humidity around the CDR-5000.
  • Battery temperature- shows the temperature measured by the Thermo Sensor or the Thermo Stand.
  • Input voltage- shows the voltage of the power source.
  • Set Amperage- shows the current preset for charging or discharging.
  • Cut-off Voltage- shows the voltage to stop charging or discharging.
  • Peak Voltage- shows the peak voltage of the battery while charging.
  • Average Voltage- shows the average voltage while charging or discharging.
  • Average Battery Temperature- shows the average temperature of the battery measured from the thermo sensor or the Thermo stand.
TX/RX Data Screen
  • Mode- Indicates the condition of the battery.
  • Volts- shows the current battery voltage.
  • Amperage- shows the present charging current or discharge current.
  • Peak Volts- shows the peak voltage of a battery while the battery is charged.
  • Battery Capacity- shows the accumulated amount of charge or discharge from the beginning.
  • Set Amperage- shows the current preset for charging or discharging.

Plotting graphs
  • Can show the relationship between the charging time, battery voltage, and temperature for 1 to 36 cells.
  • Can also show the relationship between discharging time, battery voltage, and temperature for 1 to 36 cells.
  • Can also show the relationship between the charging time and the cell voltage. (not applicable to a battery of 7 cells or more.)
  • Also can show the relationship between the discharging time and the cell voltage.
Bar Graphs
  • Shows the average voltages of each cell in the charging mode.
  • Can show the peak voltages of each cell in charging mode.
  • Can also show the average voltages of each cell in discharging mode.
Terminal Harness Graph
  • Shows the voltage of each individual cell.
Environment Graphs
  • These will show the temperature and the humidity measured by the Thermo Sensor built into the CDR-5000.
